taking the sunia(n) antar challenge

the last 7 weeks have been challenging to say the least. without going into too much detail, literally every aspect of my life has been rocked in some way (home, romance, career, family, friends, etc) causing me to "lose it" here and there leaving no prisoners. everything was quickly unraveling.

four weeks ago, i tried out kundalini yoga for the first time with kate, a writer (www.mylifeinyellow.com) and fellow teacher from om factory's teacher training program. i've been wanting to take a kundalini class because i enjoy learning & working with the chakras, and i do believe you can tap into these energy centers for healing and growth. and...basically i felt like what's on the bottom of your shoe and wanted to shake the feeling, so i was down to try anything. we were introduced to 4 very interesting and, without an open mind one may say, peculiar set of "exercises," one of which was "sunia(n) antar." our teacher fallon imparted this is a meditation for emotional balance. it feels a little weird at first because you're basically holding yourself up by the armpit. try not to laugh (*snickering myself*). but...fallon assured a turnaround in one's aura if practiced for 3 mins a day for 40 days. i was intrigued, and it's been marinating in my mind ever since.
sunia(n) antar - meditation for emotional balance
the instruction went something like this...
* sit in a comfortable seated position.
* hold your arms straight out in front of you with your thumbs facing the sky, bend your elbows and cross your arms, placing your hands right under your armpits.
* scrunch your shoulders high, high, high. release the tension in your neck with your shoulders still scrunched.
* now "just breath" (this is not as simple as it reads, so my suggestion would be to put your attention on your nostrils and feel the air flowing into your nose as you inhale and feel the air flowing out as you exhale...really be there and notice what you feel. you may feel that the breath is cooler on the inhale and warmer on the exhale, or vice versa.)
* close your eyes, breathing in this position for 3 mins.

so...if you're going through your own spiritual avalanche, will u join me in the "sunia(n) antar" 40-day challenge? if we start today, the challenge ends on sept 27. if you read this sometime in between the next 40 days, no worries...join in and let me know how it's going in the comments section.

"sat nam"
as they say,
which i read means
"truth is our identity."
